Out of 500 “must-see” places in Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List, the ancient sandstone city of Petra stole the winning spot at #1. Lonely Planet, who is the world’s leading publisher of the popular travel guides, named this UNESCO World Heritage Site “the number one place in the world to experience outdoor adventure” and heralded it as “otherworldly” and possessing an “eternal air of mystery."
The American ultra-marathoner, Amy Sproston, has run the 675km-long Jordan Trail in record time, becoming the first woman to complete the courseand shattering the previous record set by British runners Robbie Britton and Dan Lawson. Sproston ran the trail in an impressive eight days, nine hours, and 28 minutes, one day and 49 minutes faster than the standing best time. It takes experienced hikers an average of 40 days to complete the trail.
