Jordan's walking tour takes tourists through the city's burgeoning street art scene
Jordan’s capital Amman could seem monotonous at first glance, as it has few green spaces and beige, uniform houses staggered upon a hilly landscape. Yet, between the narrow alleyways and along building walls are vibrant bursts of colors, elaborate artworks adorning local neighborhoods.
Home to Petra, lots of Roman ruins, Lawrence of Arabia’s favorite desert, the Dead Sea and a thriving capital city, there’s plenty to do and see.
Jordan is one of the most popular tourism destinations in the Middle East for good reason. Here’s how to spend five days touring the country, hitting the tourism highlights and favorite local spots.
Much of the focus on sustainability in travel has been on suppliers and travelers. We want to know what tour operators, hotels and cruise ships are doing to provide travelers with green experiences or which ones support local communities. Left out of the conversation is the travel advisor. Today's travelers are demanding more immersive, bespoke experiences, and advisors can play a major role in providing sustainable options.
If you missed our first live episode in our Coffee Break with Jordan series, watch the video recording for an insightful conversation, led by JTBNA's Deputy Director Janine Jervis, where she gives updates* on Jordan's re-opening efforts, new protocols and some of the latest tourism initiatives. The discussion is also joined by content creator and award winning travel host Valerie Joy Wilson, founder of Trusted Travel Girl, who was the first solo-female traveler and one of the first tourists to visit Jordan after the mandatory quarantine was lifted in February. Watch the video to hear Valerie's first-hand account of her journey and why Jordan should be the destination for your next trip!

The Jordan Trail can be experienced all at once or broken into smaller hikes ranging from 4, 5 and 6 day hikes, experiencing 8 different regions. New this year is the JT Pass, an official lifetime trail passport, hiking log, and achievement recorder.
Religious tourism is among the oldest forms of planned travel and to this day remains a huge market. As a country, Jordan hosts 34 Christian holy sites and shrines and 35 Islamic sites, and offers a well-traveled spiritual bridge between east and west, sea and desert, Old and New Testaments. In ancient times, Jordan was a designated place of refuge and is the only area in the Holy Land that links the lives of Abraham, Lot, Moses, Job, David, Ruth, Elijah, John the Baptist, Jesus and the Apostle Paul. “The tour is the experience of a lifetime. I just got back from my vacation and everybody is asking how it was. I can't find the words to match the amazing experience I just had. You will not be disappointed. The schedule was exactly as described. The itinerary was perfect. Trust is earned, and I will be back again when the time comes. I don't have anything bad to say about the trip.” — Craig B., April 2021 (TripAdvisor)
“If you can make it here during these crazy times - do it. This is my fifth time in Petra and I'd never gotten a clean shot of the treasury until now! Nothing but blue skies, fresh air, and spectacular views. Pure magic.” — Sarah W., December 2020 (TripAdvisor)
