TIME selects Wadi Dana as one of 2021 World’s Greatest Places
Global authority TIME has unveiled their much anticipated 2021 World’s Greatest Places, with Wadi Dana, Jordan being singled out as a destination offering an extraordinary traveler experience. The Dana Biosphere Reserve is Jordan’s largest nature reserve and is set in the remote Wadi Dana valley. Spanning 310 square kilometers, the biosphere has four distinct biogeographical zones and is home to rare regional flora and fauna including 25 protected endangered species.
“This extraordinary natural landscape is one of the most unique in the world and it’s an honor to have it recognized as one of the world’s greatest places,” said Malia Asfour, Director of the Jordan Tourism Board North America.
This updated version of TIME’s annual travel guide was curated from editor and expert nominations from around the world and recognizes 100 destinations, including countries, cities, towns and national parks, that are offering visitors extraordinary experiences unlike any other.
During the virtual forty-fourth session of The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the committee approved the addition of the city of Salt, "the city of tolerance and civilized hospitality" to the World Heritage List.
