Chef Gordan Ramsay Films 'Uncharted' Episode in Jordan
World-renowned chef and television personality Gordon Ramsay filmed the latest episode of his National Geographic series Gordon Ramsay:Uncharted in Jordan.
In the episode “A Royal Taste of Jordan,” Ramsay explores Jordan’s rich heritage, flavorful ingredients, and diverse landscapes in areas across the kingdom, from the verdant northern region to the Wadi Rum desert in the south. Additionally, the episode features a cook-off in which Ramsay cooks an impressive meal alongside Jordanian chef and business owner, Maria Haddad, for members of the royal family at the ancient stone-carved city of Petra and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Held from June 2-9 in the Middle Eastern country of Jordan, the exciting event – which participants have called “epic,” “extraordinary” and “eye opening” – involved nearly 300 travel industry professionals (227 agents, 37 supplier reps and 20 TTAND staff) and took place at three different hotels.
Wadi Rum's Nabataean Temple: Unveiling Sanctuary Goddess Lat
On the outskirts of Petra and its hinterland, archaeological teams studied the Nabataean sites and structures, and one of such settlements was discovered in Wadi Rum in 1930. The British archaeologist Diana Kirkbride (1915-1997) dug in Wadi Rum in 1959 and the Department of Antiquities (DoA) launched another operation of clearing the area in 1962.
Visitors to Jordan often focus on the country’s historic sites and distinctive natural features, such as the archeological wonders of Petra and the dramatic desert landscapes of Wadi Rum. While these attractions are spectacular, you can enhance your trip by pairing the classic attractions with equally distinctive food experiences around the country, from first-rate meals to culinary tours to cooking workshops.
Inscriptions of Wadi Rum: Studying Ancient Nomadic Life
The late Australian scholar from The University of Sydney, William Jobling, meticulously studied inscriptions in the Wadi Rum back in 1980 and 1981. He then discovered some stone structure, flint tools, ceramic assemblages, rock drawings and Thamudic inscriptions. One of the inscriptions found by Jobling ended up in the Amman Museum, while many results of his research remained unpublished due to his premature death.
