Ajlun - Umm Qays - Pella – Overnight in Amman
Head 30 minutes north of Jerash to Ajlun Castle, built by one of Saladin's generals in 1184 AD to control the iron mines of Ajlun, and to deter the Franks from invading Ajlun. Here you can walk around in the well preserved castle and have your kid’s imaginations run wild. Walk around the lodging area for some outdoor fun. A short drive further north, visit and experience the ancient ruins of Umm Qays & Pella, once Decapolis cities.
Enjoy this evening’s dinner at Kan Zaman, this hundred-year old village, now a charming complex of shops, a handicraft center, cafes and a large restaurant located in what originally were huge, very high-ceilinged stables. The shops sell everything from spices to antiques and in many of them visitors can watch the artisans practice their trades. Local music provides the background for a delicious home-style dinner.
