Tourism Cares with Jordan Recap
Jordan hosted 70 professionals from various parts of the travel industry - including the U.S. government, association executives, and leaders from cruise lines and travel organizations. Over the course of the 6 day event, attendees were able to experience the greatest highlights of Jordan and 12 social enterprises. You can learn more about the social enterprises on the Meaningful Travel Map of Jordan.
Bedouin Camp Meal
Zarb is a traditional meal consisting of lamb or chicken, herbs and vegetables, buried in an oven with hot coals beneath the desert sands. When it's time for the meat to resurface, the sand is brushed away, the lid comes off, and the glorious slow roasted fragrances billow into the air.
Bedouin Party
Jordan is renowned for its physical beauty. The historic charm of the ancient city of Petra, the stunning chasms and plains of Wadi Rum, and the unique wonder of the Dead Sea are only a few of Jordan’s many exquisite features. The warmth and generosity of the Jordanian people, however, are no less exceptional.
Summaga Cafe
One of the 12 social enterprises on the Meaningful Travel Map of Jordan, Summaga is a relaxed, all-day café, restaurant, and shop that offers an authentic taste of the northern city of Ajloun. Learn more about Summaga Café here.
Faces of Jordan
"You can't come to Jordan and not connect with the people. You connect with them on every level — from the shepherds to the women in the market to just people you pass by. They're interested in you and they want to learn from you. And they don't want you to come to their country without knowing their story and really feeling their history and traditions."
Hiking the Jordan Trail
The industry that we're in focuses so much on luxury. But what I have noticed in my career is that nature, silence, and solitude are the last few luxuries on earth...and on the Jordan Trail you have nature, silence, and solitude. Learn more about the Jordan Trail here.
Local Experiences
The travelers of today and future generations are looking for meaningful experiences — meeting locals, sharing stories, and immersing themselves into the culture. Learn more about how you can add meaning to your trip to Jordan by visiting the Meaningful Travel Map of Jordan.
Bedouin Camp in Wadi Rum
The country’s hidden wonders, combined with the famous Jordanian hospitality, make for the kind of experience that can’t be fully captured in photographs. Your time spent in Jordan will be unique, and you are certain to leave with new friends, warm memories, and a wealth of cultural knowledge.
Wadi Rum
“Vast, echoing and God-Like” is the way Lawrence described Wadi Rum, where you will enjoy this largest and most magnificent of Jordan’s desert landscapes. It’s hard to find an experience more breathtaking than racing across the desert in the back of a 4X4, watching miles of sand disappear behind you and feeling the cool wind against your face.
